Days 11-13 - Wednesday-Friday, October 1-3, 2003 - The Abby Normal experienced trouble with its alternator, and the boat hit some rocks Wednesday, so Walt and Carol cooled their heels at the Keokuk Yacht Club in Keokuk, IL while waiting for replacement parts to arrive, so repairs could be made. Day 14 - Saturday, October 4, 2003 - The boat and crew are now underway again. Close inspection to the underside of the boat's hull by a local diver revealed that no serious damage was done by the rock encounter. The alternator was replaced and although the Keokuk locals were polite, they seemed a bit stand offish, prefering to view the Abby Normal and its crew from a safe distance onshore. - Select Chart 12 to see the location on the interactive map at the right.

Day 19 - Thursday, October 9, 2003 - Having now traveled 480 miles on its river journey to the Gulf of Mexico, the Abby Normal and its intrepid crew are now sitting out a rainstorm at the Port St. Charles Marina near St. Charles, Missouri.
